The bus departs from Miyajimaguchi in Hiroshima Prefecture and heads to Takehara, known as the Little Kyoto of Aki. You will have time to stroll through the “preserved townscape district,” which flourished in the late Edo period as a salt and sake brewing town.
Enjoy the feeling of being transported back in time to old Japan. The bus continues east and arrives at Onomichi.
This is the starting point of the Shimanami Kaido Cycling Tour. You can get off YUI PRIMA OLIVIA and enjoy cycling from here, or you can tour the scenic spots with a local guide.
YUI PRIMA OLIVIA then proceeds to Iguchijima.
This is the number one lemon producing area in Japan. If you get off here, you can get a glimpse of island life by cycling or taking a walk around the fishing port.
The bus continues to Oshima, the southernmost island of the Shimanami Kaido, and visits the best scenic spot to visit by YUI PRIMA OLIVIA, the famous observation deck “Kirosan Observatory” designed by Kengo Kuma. After enjoying the beautiful evening view of the Seto Inland Sea islands, the bus arrives at Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture.

Free time to explore the good old streets of Takehara (110 minutes)

Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the streets of Takehara, known as “Little Kyoto of Aki,” which once prospered through salt production and sake brewing. In this preservation district, designated as one of the country’s Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings, you can experience the atmosphere of old Japan, including the homes of former wealthy merchants and a sake brewery with 400 years of history.

Stroll freely through the old town lined with wealthy merchants shops and sake breweries (100 minutes)

Explore Onomichi’s hidden alleys and tourist spots with a local guide. Pass through the shopping district and take the ropeway up to a unique observation deck with a view of the Onomichi Channel and the islands of the Shimanami Kaido. Take a break with your favorite drink at a guesthouse renovated from an old house, offering a beautiful view of the whole of Onomichi.

●POINT
・The guesthouse Miharashitei is a popular tourist spot with a spectacular view that was renovated from an old house as part of a vacant house project. You can enjoy a local drink while admiring the view.
・You will learn trivia about the town that only a local would know.
・The view from Senkoji Temple is spectacular. You can even meet cats on the stairs leading down from Senkoji Temple (there is also a cat alley), and the townscape has a nostalgic atmosphere.

Take a bus drive along the Shimanami Kaido, which stretches 60km over seven bridges and islands (90 minutes)

Ikuchijima Island is located in the middle of the Shimanami Kaido. Explore the town of Setoda, the midpoint of the island. This seaside town is located on the Shimanami Kaido cycling route, and is a great place to enjoy cycling and marine activities in the summer. After getting off the bus, you will visit the beautiful Kosanji Temple, the Buddha cave, and Miraishin no Oka (the hill of hope), which is also very popular on social media.

Make a stop at Kirosan Observatory, a scenic sightseeing spot that cannot be reached by public transport (90 minutes)

This is the view from Kirosan Observatory, known as the highlight of Setouchi.
If the weather is good, you will be treated to a spectacular view of the Shimanami Kaido. Sunset time is especially recommended.

Take a break at Kirosan Observatory, a famous spot where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Seto Inland Sea. The observatory was designed by famous Japanese architect Kengo Kuma.

Continue your journey with YUI PRIMA OLIVIA

Get off at Imabari and stay overnight overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. The next day, depart Imabari on YUI PRIMA OLIVIA and set off ona journey of a scenic route around Setouchi .

Enjoy other travels/ Return home

1.Get off at Onomichi and cycle along the Shimanami Kaido. Afterwards, use the ferry to travel around the Setouchi islands.
2.After getting off at Imabari, fly back home from Matsuyama Airport.
